Chosen Spread
Introduction. In the previous blog, I created 3 different spreads. For this blog, I am going to be choosing one spread and explaining my choices with original content for the spread. I used Canva to make the spread and Adobe Lightroom to edit the images.
Original.
New.
In this spread, I decided to make the page numbers smaller. This is because they were too big and distracting. For the title, I put the "Activities in" in.a serif font. This is because the reader will trust my magazine more with the effect it gives off. It gives an effect of trustworthiness, and a sense of intellect. The "Turkey" is in a script font. This is because it looks elegant and pairs well with the serif font. It is also more personal, which makes the reader feel more connected with it. The text is in a sans serif font. This is because it makes the reader trust my magazine more because it is more up-to-date which makes my magazine look more recent. The image descriptors are also in sans serif. This makes my magazine look more complete and more professional. For the color scheme, I went with a dark gray for the text. This creates contrast with the black drop cap against the white background which makes my spread pop out more. I made the "Activities in" a darker gray but lighter than the black as this creates a balance between the different colors. The "Turkey" is in blue. This is because it connects to the image on the right which makes the magazine look more complete and professional. It also makes my magazine look less bland. I had to change the shade of blue to match the edited picture. For this same reason, I put a drop cap in. Adding a drop cap makes my magazine look more professional and complete since the title is in script. I chose this specific script font because it pairs well with the sans serif font and does not look out of place. For the images, i went with hot air balloons for the main image on the right side This is because it connects to the cover and the TOC and looks more complete. It also promotes air sports, which is talked about in the article. I also put a picture of a sightseeing location in Turkey. This is because it also talked about the article, and is a good picture that promotes sightseeing. For the title, I made the "Turkey" bigger than the "Activities in" because this emphasizes the "Turkey."
Images (Non-edits)
Images (Edited).
For the first image, the contrast was put up and the exposure down. This helps to change the shade of blue to a better, more vibrant shade. The highlights got turned down to make the hot air balloons go with the sky, and not be too prominent. The shadows were put up to lighten the image. However to balance this out, the whites and blacks were turned down. The vibrance was put up a little bit to make the sky pop out more. The saturation was put down a little bit to help with balance, but not much, it is not very noticeable. The "auto" feature did this all for me. This image was cropped in a way that the most hot air balloons could be shown while also showing the left side to show the horizon.
